ORINDA, CA – In 2011 West Coast Jamboree women’s high school basketball quarter-finals action, Berkeley (Berkeley, CA) won a close contest 56-54 over a strong NCS Div II program in Dougherty Valley (San Ramon, CA), at Meramonte High School in Orinda, Calif. Berkeley came out strong and kept the Wildcats from scoring until late in the first quarter.
Yellowjacket senior Garysha Youngblood scored a team-high 16 points, Jasmin Guinn added 13 and Arizona State bound Elisha Davis continued to play a strong supporting role with eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Once the Wildcats started to roll, Cal Poly bound Caroline Hughes scored 16 points and added eight rebounds and four blocks. Treyvonna Brooks also scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Wildcats. This is the second close game between these two teams this month, with Berkeley coming away with the win both times.
