2012 HS Men’s Basketball: DII NCS Playoffs: Mt. Eden at Newark Memorial

NEWARK, CA – February 25, 2012 – For the first time in 11 years the Newark Memorial Cougars are back in the NCS Div II playoffs and making the most of it.  Saturday they held off ninth seeded Mt. Eden in the Newark south gym (the NCS wrestling championships were taking place in the main gym) winning 65-52 in front of a packed house.

Number one seed Newark (24-4) advances to the NCS semifinals and will host number four Las Lomas (19-9) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The win also clinches a spot in the CIF Northern Regional playoffs.
